Restorative Dentistry

Dental Crowns

Also known as “caps,” dental crowns are custom-made tooth replicas that fit over damaged teeth to restore their strength and beauty. Crowns are excellent solutions for teeth that have become severely damaged by decay or trauma or suffer from cosmetic imperfections such as discolouration or misshapenness. At our office, we use all-porcelain crowns to restore the health and appearance of our patients’ smiles. These restorations have no metal bases that can produce a gray hue around your gum line over time.

Dental Bridges

A bridge is a dental restoration that is designed to create a full smile by filling in the space left by a missing tooth. A bridge consists of an artificial tooth surrounded on either side by a crown. These crowns are placed over the teeth surrounding a gap so that the artificial tooth fills the empty space. Bridges are custom made to complement the features of surrounding teeth, and so create extremely natural looking smiles. In addition, bridges add strength to the treated area and improve chewing and speaking ability. At our office we provide patients with all-ceramic bridges. These restorations are free of any metal bases that could potentially discolour your smile.

Teeth Whitening

In regards to teeth whitening, Dr. Cabianca always recommends that his patients use the white strips that are available at grocery and drug stores. In his experience, these methods are very effective when used as directed and a much more economical option than traditional in-office bleaching. Teeth whitening can work to restore the natural shine and luster that is worn away from certain foods, wine, coffee, smoking, and other agents that can discolour or dull your teeth.

Porcelain Veneers

Porcelain Veneers are thin layers of porcelain custom made to fit over the front surface of a tooth to conceal cosmetic defects in your smile. They can be used to cover up damage caused by decay, injury, or discoloration. Dr. Cabianca will remove a small amount of your natural tooth so that the veneer does not feel bigger than your other teeth and take a mold of the tooth. The porcelain veneer will be crafted for an exact fit and adhered to the tooth’s surface to create an aesthetically pleasing smile.

Cosmetic Bonding

In this procedure, Dr. Cabianca will apply a tooth-colored resin material to a tooth to restore or enhance your smile. Cosmetic bonding can be used to repair decayed, chipped, or broken teeth; or to improve the appearance of discolored or older looking teeth. Bonding can also be used to protect exposed roots because of gum recession or as an alternative to traditional dental fillings. Dr. Cabianca can even use cosmetic bonding to close space between teeth and reshape individual teeth.

Tooth-Colored Fillings

Similar to cosmetic bonding, tooth colored fillings use a composite resin that is applied to the tooth and hardened through exposure to ultraviolet light. In the past, dental fillings were made up of an amalgam of different metals that are not very discreet. Dr. Cabianca uses tooth colored fillings because they are more aesthetically pleasing and because this material feels and reacts more like a natural tooth would.
